Our father-in-law was a pipe smoker. There is a number of sculptures depicting African and tribal pipe smokers in his collection.

Smoking tobacco is a wide spread activity in the Grasslands of Cameroon. Pipes could be a symbol of high status and important ceremonial object. This is an unusual statue with an unusual pipe - it adds a whole new dimension to a pipe collection.

Provenance: This statue has been in the Raskin Private Collection for years.
