We met this tribesman at the helm of the ceremonial tray on our visit to the Sepik river in 1996. His large hands drew our respect. The decorative motif of the tray reminds one of the river Sepik, the tall grasses that shimmer on its banks and reflect in the waters as canoe moves down the river.
