Kuba live in the DRC. In the 18th and 19th centuries they developed the sculptural tradition of royal representation - seated Ndop figures. These were portraits of their rulers. They were depicted wearing characteristic head gear.

Present figure is that of one of the royal females.
It has been in our private collection for many years.
