Bozo people live along Niger river and are related to Bamana.  Bozo create masks  and puppets of vivid colors. This mask has been danced - it has some left over tufts of leather and probably had some paper or cloth that was stapled to it for performances.

The guide who located it for us comes from the family of a well known collector and dealer of Bozo art in Mali.
