Bronze Chi Waras are made for decoration in the Dogon area of Mali. This is a female mythical being with a tiny baby on its back. Accorting to the Dogon legend, Chi Wara taught people how to dig the soil and plant and harvest crops. Chi Wara head dresses made out of wood are used during harvest dances.
This Chi Wara is very elegant and looks like a modern sculpture - yet tradition of Chi Wara dance goes back many generations!
