Chi Wara represents a mythical being who taught people to farm and who is a combination of many animals here even have a fish at its base.
Among the best known associations in Burkina Faso is the Chi Wara (or tji wara). In the past the purpose of this association was to encourage cooperation among all members of the community to ensure a successful crop. In recent time, however, the concept of chi wara has become associated with the notion of good farmer, and the chi wara masqueraders are regarded as a farming beast. Antelope masqueraders speak of fertility and agricultural abundance.
This Chi Wara has a hat like structure - to make it easier to fit on top of performers' head! This is one of the most colorful Chi Waras we have come across. It has some signs of wear and tear - as do most Chi Waras.
