Mankala Game Board in the Shape of a Crocodile

ArtTribal.com

Sold

Baule. The game of mankala, though widespread, is played more particularly in West Africa. It involves moving pawns on a board with two rows of six holes. The goal is to capture the pawns in the opposite row. The pawns can be made out of seeds, cowries, pebbles or pieces of metal. Many ethnographic collections have mankala games, which are fine works of art. This board has been made as carved image of a crocodile. Two parts.
