When you visit Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, check out some of the masks in the African Collection decorated with similar chameleons!

These masks are created by Bozo people who live along Niger river and are related to Bamana. They are called "people of the fish" as  they make their living by fishing. Bozo create masks and sculptures of vivid colors often decorated with contrasting dots. They also create mythical animals for masquerades and performances before hunting and fishing events.

The guide who located these small  masks for us comes from the family of a well known collector and dealer of Bozo art in Mali.
