Bamileke people live in the Cameroon Grasslands. They often cover their masks and sculptures with colorful beads in place of pigments or paints. This creates a miraculous effect on anyone who sees them. They appear to bef living and breathing. They seem much more whimsical to us than other African masks. Masks representing animals are danced at state and regional festivals. Animal masks usually appear is succession following the lead dancer in the N'Kang human mask.
