Heddle Pulley. Heddle Pulleys
are weaving implements used for making narrow strips of cloth. These strips of
cloth are sewn together to make a wide fabric traditionally worn in many areas
of West Africa. Heddle pulleys were often adorned with intricately carved
figures. These images served as a reminder of a particularly important family
event and believed have protective powers.
