Democratic Republic of the Congo

Ceremonial figure.  This unusual well carved statue came from the territory of Zaire, but can not be attributed to any special ethnic group.  The figure presents influences of several peoples inhabiting the DRC. Apparently, it is a spirit or an ancestor, but its specific use is not clear although it does not diminish its collectible value.
